Sleep Number Stories: From “lumpy hand-me-down” to complete comfort

When you work in PR for a mattress manufacturer, you tend to hear from your customers a lot. Lucky for us, most of the time, it’s extremely positive feedback. We hear a lot of great feedback from fans on our Facebook page and on Twitter. And, of course, we hear from our customers by way of the old-fashioned phone from time-to-time, too. Over the last couple years, we’ve also partnered with a number of bloggers who’ve become Sleep Number bed owners and given us great feedback about our beds.

That’s where Erin Loechner enters the picture.

We worked with Erin on a giveaway on her blog, Design For Mankind, earlier this year. As part of that giveaway, we provided her with a Sleep Number p7 Memory Foam bed, and also gave one away to one of her lucky readers.

After just a month, Erin’s already become a big Sleep Number fan. I could go on, but I’d rather let her tell you her story:

“Our first mattress was a lumpy hand-me-down from my husband’s parents, so when the time came to purchase a new bed for our renovation home, we knew Sleep Number was a viable option. After suffering years of poor sleep, tossing, turning and achy backs, Sleep Number seemed like a no-brainer.

Bonus? After a few days of research, we realized just how affordable a Sleep Number is! To be honest, we’d put Sleep Number on such a pedestal, thinking a luxurious mattress with a remote control would be completely out of our price range.

Lucky for us, the price was perfect and we’re thrilled with our quality of sleep. My number is a 65 and Ken’s a 100 (we opted for a p7 Memory Foam bed!), so you can imagine the discomfort we experienced with our lumpy, no-good former mattress.

The only downside? Our lazy dogs seem to be on a quest to find their own personal mattress, as we can never get them off the bed now!”

Thanks for the wonderful comments, Erin. We’re glad you and Ken are sleeping better. And, we hope your dogs eventually find their Sleep Number settings, as well ;)

My wife and I love the Sleep Number bed. More importantly, it’s critical that we have a firm bed for her because of a back condition. Because of this, whenever we travel, we always choose a Radisson hotel since they all use Sleep Number beds. My question is this: Is there some kind of portable pad that we can use in case there is no Radisson nearby or for staying with a friend or relative?

Thanks and keep up the good work.
