It wasn’t until I began to work for Select Comfort that I truly understood just how important sleep was to my overall health. I mean, I knew how awful it felt to be sleep deprived, but I didn’t realize I was negatively impacting my health.
That was before I met the Sleep Geek himself, Pete Bils. I will forever thank Pete for setting me straight when it comes to sleep. He sat me down in a conference room at Select Comfort and spent an hour going through this intense PowerPoint presentation. In it was a bunch of sleep studies and research. The studies and research showed that sleep deprivation can affect everything from cognitive function to weight management.
I was shocked. Stupefied. Slightly embarrassed, but determined to get more sleep. Thankfully, the gigantic PowerPoint presentation also contained many tips and suggestions for how to get a better nights sleep (including buying a Sleep Number bed).
My conversation with Pete made me a healthier person. And I feel if one person positively impacts your life, you have the obligation to return the favor by positively impacting someone else’s life. In that spirit, I wanted to share with you a podcast Pete just taped for a man named Jimmy Moore. Jimmy has a weight-loss Web site called Livin La Vida Low Carb. You can also find him blogging on a regular basis on his blog and Carbwire and Common Voice.
During this podcast, Pete talks a lot about what you can do to improve your sleep. He also talks about the potential health benefits of more sleep. So, in an effort to offer you the same great education I received from Pete, I wanted to give you a head’s up about the podcast.
I would be very interested to know what you think about it…
We want to hear your personal sleep tips, mattress experiences, and healthy living advice; share them below or post them on your blog linking back to this post.
And let us know if you have a question about sleep that wasn’t answered in Pete’s podcast with Jimmy.
In the meantime, sleep well!
Gabby

Jimmy Moore’s podcast is jam packed with a lot of great sleep tip info. I found it really interesting to listen to and recommend it to others looking to hear from our “Sleep Geek” himself.
