For Edwin Adams, manager of the Texas Parks at Arlington, Select Comfort store, customer service is a lot like a round of golf. Every day is a different situation, and while you play the same course each day, the condition of the course, who you’re playing with and your approach changes each time.
Whether it’s golf or improving lives, that variety and desire to meet a challenge head-on is what drives and inspires Edwin and his team at the Parks at Arlington store. Oh, and it doesn’t hurt that Edwin rests his head on a Sleep Number bed each night. In fact, he has been sleeping on our beds for the last four years, and, it’s made all the difference in his ability to perform at work and at play.
You may have already guessed that Edwin is active and plays a lot of sports in his free time. And prior to purchasing his Sleep Number bed, he would wait an hour before he could function after getting up in the morning. Now, with his Sleep Number bed, he’s up and around quickly. And, his wife’s a big fan, too. Just the other day she gave Edwin a giant hug and said, “I love my bed.”
Not only does this bed help him with his golf fame, it inspires his ability to work. Believing in the product is a huge factor for Edwin and his team. While Edwin and his colleagues Doug Green, and Craig Carvajal are well-trained in the technical specifications behind the Sleep Number beds and accessories, it’s that passion and first-hand knowledge that make it easier to work with customers to find solutions to their sleep needs. In the end, Edwin and his team believe if they can help their customers sleep better, they’ll live better. And, that’s really their end goal.
One of the ways Edwin and his team help the community live better is by supporting local events like the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. A two-time sponsor of the event, Edwin, Doug and Craig can often be found at these events as early as 4 a.m. setting up demonstration beds and organizing bags to hand out to participants later in the day. The team is also active with other local organizations like Safe Haven, a battered women’s safe house.
Finally, the Parks at Arlington store also boasts one of the most unique store layouts across the U.S. The store features two separate entrances on either side of the store—separated by a cell phone retailer in the middle. The unique layout can make assisting customers a challenge at times, but Edwin and his team know they need to be quick on their feet and be scanning both sides of the store at all times for customers. And, at 14 years, it’s also one of the older stores across the Select Comfort family.
