This past weekend a good friend of Select Comfort died at the age of 90. Mr. Paul Harvey is known around the world for his radio personality. A man with solid Midwestern values, Mr. Harvey’s radio career spanned more than 70 years. He had more than 25 million loyal listeners and was the most-listened to radio personality in America. Until recently, he was in his office by 5 a.m. each day to read and edit the news for his shows. Mr. Harvey received many awards throughout his career including the Presidential Medal of Honor, bestowed upon him by President George W. Bush in 2005.
For 15 years Mr. Harvey slept on the Sleep Number bed and shared his story about how the bed changed him and his wife’s (Angel) life. Mr. Harvey’s Sleep Number was 55.
We will miss him, but feel fortunate to have known him and to have had the opportunity to work with a man of such passion for our great mattress. At Select Comfort headquarters, our flags are at half mast in his honor, and we will look for other ways to honor him. Fortunately, in the past couple of years we have been able to celebrate with him during our 15th anniversary together and his 76th anniversary in radio.
Mr. Harvey concluded his shows with “Good Day” — and we all can have a “good day” knowing that he lived such a full life.
