September’s #SleepGeek Twitter Party

In the morning, do you wake up stiff and sore with your back screaming at you for what you did – or didn’t do – the day before? Are you looking for sleep advice or pain relief? Do you have sleep tips you’d like to share with others? Well…you’ve come to the right spot.

September is National Pain Awareness Month, and more than 80 percent of Americans are affected by back pain at some point in their lives. In fact, half the older population suffers from chronic pain as a result of an accident, medical conditions like fibromyalgia or rheumatoid arthritis, birth defects, or other illnesses. Not only do chronic pain sufferers cope with pain all day, the majority also endure serious sleep issues at night. And, did you know most pain medications significantly alter sleep patterns and make you feel your pain more during the day?

I’ve written several blog posts about this topic on beds.com and have provided tips for mild and chronic pain sufferers to help them get a better night’s sleep. I’m now extending the conversation and offering sleep and pain relief advice on Twitter. On Wednesday, September 30, from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. CT, I’m hosting a Twitter Party to talk about #pain and #sleep. You can follow me at www.twitter.com/SleepGeekPete.

What is a #SleepGeek Twitter Party you ask? It’s a chance for you to tweet your sleep and pain issues and talk with others about their solutions! I’ll join in on the conversations, tweeting live with you as we focus on the eight hours of sleep that prepare us for the day. Participation is easy and FREE! To view discussions and comments, search #SleepGeek at www.Search.twitter.com. To write/send comments and/or replies you must include #SleepGeek somewhere in your Twitter update. This is the only way your comment can be seen by the group. Please see details below.

• Time: September 30, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. CT
• Location: Twitter, #SleepGeek
• Website: http://search.twitter.com/

If you have a burning question and can’t wait until Wednesday to ask it, please e-mail it to sleepexpert@selectcomfort.com or post it in the comments section below. I’ll make sure to find an answer and discuss it during the Twitter Party.

To show our appreciation for sharing your insights and participating in Wednesday’s Twitter Party my colleague, @SleepNumberSara, is offering a FREE Sleep Number® Create Your Perfect Pillow gift certificate to several participants.

As a self-proclaimed “Sleep Geek,” I enjoy talking with others about sleep and issues that may cause them to toss and turn at night. I look forward to tweeting with you.

-Pete (a.k.a. @SleepGeekPete)
